Ghent, Belgium, hosted a meeting of the Executive Board of the World Federation of Investors (WFI) last week where they discussed the reports and activities of individual national members, the impact of listing new securities, the role of financial intermediaries in the CSD on EU level, educating investors, the progress made in the democratization process of shareholding and the case of Sweden's amazing growth of individual shareholding (3 million new securities 'savings' accounts), the evolution of cryptocurrencies, the legal actions and settlements in the case of Volkswagen, and the preparations for the General Assembly of this major and influential international organization that goes back more than 50 years. As a member of the Executive Board of the WFI, the President of VZMD, Mr. Kristjan Verbič also attended the meeting. He arrived at Ghent a day earlier to show up for the evening reception and dinner that was held at the La Concorde private club by Dr. Jean-Pierre Paelinck, the President and the Secretary General of the WFI.
As always, Mr. Verbič took the opportunity to present the investment opportunities, activities, and possibilities included in the VZMD's international business-investor programs: Invest to Slovenia - investo.si and International Investors` Network - investo.international. At the meeting, VZMD was commended and applauded for their organization of the International Investor Conference last September at Bled (VIDEO: https://youtu.be/JoaQyqZlVwg) which saw an active participation of the WFI and their prominent representatives. The president of VZMD presented, among others, their program called 'Share SUPPORT« (VIDEO: https://youtu.be/qnNbmMa4VRQ), as well as the cooperation between VZMD and the Convention of Independent Financial Advisors (CIFA), a non-governmental and non-profit organization with a consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN).
Furthermore, the WFI meeting was also the commencement of the first major international tour of the programs investo.si and investo.international after a 2-year hiatus. After the meeting and the evening reception at the Falligan Royal Literary Society, the president of VZMD went on to Brussels to meet with the representatives of the European Federation of Investors (BETTER FINANCE). Afterwards, he will travel to Monaco to attend a high-profile international forum 'Impower – Incorporating FundForum', followed by the traditional visit to the annual congress of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN) which, this time around, took place at Cork, Ireland (VIDEOS from the annual congresses in 2013 in Vienna, in 2014 in Istanbul). Mr. Verbič will conclude his May tour in London where he will attend the forum of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA).
