The story of UAE Team ADQ, the first UCI WWT professional team from the United Arab Emirates, begins with a big victory. Today in Valencia, Italian Marta Bastianelli won the Vuelta CV Féminas in Spain. The result of a perfect work by the whole team.

Each of the UAE Team ADQ girls was perfect in carrying out their tasks throughout the 92km race. Alessia Patuelli, Bujak and Boogaard made their moves in the first part of the race and then on the only climb of the day. Laura Tomasi won the intermediate sprint with about 16 km to go. Eugenia Bujak tried an attack in the final kilometres. Then, as expected, everything was decided in the sprint, Maaike Boogard, Laura Tomasi and Anna Trevisi led Marta Bastianelli out to the winning sprint. Trevisi finished in seventh place.

The winner Marta Bastianelli said: "I'm happy to have won this race for the second time and today for the first race with the new jersey of UAE Team ADQ. I have to thank all my teammates. Throughout the race all the plans we had worked out were adhered to and I had a fantastic train in the end. Especially Maaike Boogaard and Anna Trevisi lead out me perfectly in the last meters before the finish line. We know that we will have to face other very strong teams later in the season, but I think we showed today that we are up to the task. It was important to test our train and we started in the best way".

Team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti said: "The team worked very well. Everything we had studied in the pre-race tactics the girls applied to perfection. They were surgical and we deserved the victory that was certainly not easy to achieve today. There was a lot of tension because it was the first race for everyone, for us also the first race with the new team and we had a great responsibility, but the girls were perfect. We are happy and we thank all those who have believed in this project”.

Inizia subito con una bella vittoria la storia dell’UAE Team ADQ, la prima squadra professionistica femminile UCI WWT degli Emirati Arabi Uniti. Oggi a Valencia, l’italiana Marta Bastianelli ha vinto la Vuelta CV Féminas in Spagna. Risultato frutto di un lavoro perfetto svolto da tutto il team.

Ciascuna delle ragazze di UAE Team ADQ è stata perfetta nello svolgere i propri compiti lungo tutti i 92 km di gara. Alessia Patuelli, Bujak e Boogaard si sono mosse nella prima parte di gara e poi sull’unica salita di giornata. Laura Tomasi ha vinto il traguardo sprint intermedio a circa 16 km dall’arrivo. Eugenia Bujak ha provato un attacco nei chilometri finali. Poi, come prevedibile, tutto si è deciso allo sprint, Maaike Boogard, Laura Tomasi ed Anna Trevisi hanno guidato Marta Bastianelli verso la volata vincente. Trevisi ha concluso al settimo posto.

La vincitrice Marta Bastianelli ha detto: “Sono contenta di aver vinto per la seconda volta questa corsa e oggi alla prima gara con la nuova maglia di UAE Team ADQ. Devo ringraziare tutte le mie compagne di squadra. Durante tutta la gara sono stati rispettati tutti i piani che avevamo studiato e nel finale ho avuto un treno fantastico. Soprattutto Maaike Boogaard e Anna Trevisi mi hanno guidato perfettamente negli ultimi metri prima dell’arrivo. Sappiamo che nel proseguo della stagione dovremo confrontarci con altre squadre molto forti, ma io credo che oggi abbiamo dimostrato di essere all’altezza della situazione. Era importante testare il nostro treno e abbiamo iniziato nel migliore dei modi”.

Il team manager Fortunato Lacquaniti ha detto: “La squadra ha lavorato molto bene. Tutto quello che avevamo studiato nella tattica pre-gara le ragazze lo hanno applicato alla perfezione. Sono state chirurgiche e abbiamo meritato la vittoria che oggi non era certamente facile da ottenere. C’era molta tensione perché era per tutti la prima gara, per noi anche la prima con la nuova squadra e avevamo una grande responsabilità, ma le ragazze sono state bravissime. Siamo contenti e ringraziamo tutti coloro che hanno creduto in questo progetto”.
